Massachusetts’ New Law Orders Acid Rain Curbs

BROOKLINE, Mass. — Gov. Michael S. Dukakis signed legislation Tuesday making Massachusetts the sixth state in the nation to fight acid rain by ordering the state’s factories, utilities and other polluters to reduce sulfur emissions. Michigan, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New York and Wisconsin have similar laws.
