BRIEFLY : Some Little-Known Facts About Volleyball

With the Cal State Northridge women involved in the NCAA Division II volleyball tournament this weekend, this seems like the proper time to bring out a few little-known facts about the sport.
Volleyball was invented in 1895 by William G. Morgan, who lived in Holyoke, Mass. But volleyball didn’t become an Olympic sport until 1964. It took the United States 20 years to win its first Olympic medal--in 1984, the men won the gold, the women the silver.
