Harrah and Johnson May Miss Rams’ Game Against Cardinals Because of Leg Injuries

Ram guard Dennis Harrah and free safety Johnnie Johnson may be held out of Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals at Anaheim because of leg injuries. Harrah tore a calf muscle in practice Wednesday. Johnson has been playing with a sore hamstring.

Vince Newsome would start in Johnson’s place, but the Rams are thin in the offensive line. Center Doug Smith, out with a head injury, has been replaced by Tony Slaton, leaving Bill Bain as the only reserve. Bain practiced in Harrah’s guard spot this week, while Harrah worked at center as Slaton’s emergency backup.

Coach John Robinson indicated Friday that he might reactivate Russ Bolinger, a utility lineman who has been on injured reserve since breaking an arm in the fourth game.

Wide receiver Bobby Duckworth returned to practice Friday after missing Thursday’s practice while attending to “a legal problem,” according to a club source.

The problem apparently was not related to his being AWOL for the New Orleans game Dec. 1. Duckworth was suspended for last Monday’s game at San Francisco, but will be in uniform Sunday.
