Four people who became lost after their truck got stuck on a dirt road in rugged Malibu terrain were rescued from the bottom of a steep canyon at dawn today, after a five-hour search by a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department search and rescue team using bloodhounds and helicopters.

The three men and one woman were located near Bonsall Drive, about three miles north of the spot where their four-wheel-drive vehicle became mired in the soft dirt Thursday night, Sheriff’s Deputy Rick Adams said. Dressed in jeans and T-shirts, the four were cold but otherwise in good condition, although the woman had fainted during the night and required treatment by paramedics.
