College Basketball Roundup : Wolverines Go Inside to Win, 79-62

Second-ranked Michigan went to its inside power game to overwhelm Chicago State, 79-62, Monday night at Ann Arbor, Mich.
Michigan (7-0) outscored the Cougars, 40-12, and outrebounded them, 28-7, as forward Butch Wade scored 17 points and center Roy Tarpley added 14.
The Wolverines went on a 17-4 run to build a 23-10 lead and stretched it to 43-27 at halftime.
Darron Brittman had 19 points for the Cougars (4-3).
Oklahoma 79, West Texas State 58--The eighth-ranked Sooners trailed the Buffaloes early in the second half before pulling away for a victory at Norman, Okla.
Tim McAlister scored 22 points and David Johnson had 15 for Oklahoma (7-0). Derek Singletary scored 16 for the Buffaloes (3-5).
Washington 74, Boise State 55--Paul Fortier and Chris Welp dominated the Broncos inside and powered the Huskies to a victory at Boise, Idaho.
Fortier had 20 points, 11 rebounds and 3 blocked shots, and Welp added 15 points and 6 rebounds for the Huskies (5-2). Chris Childs had 15 for Boise State (3-3).
Kansas 72, South Alabama 48--Greg Dreiling scored 17 points and blocked four shots to lead as the seventh-ranked Jayhawks routed the Jaguars at Lawrence, Kan.
The Jayhawks (7-1) also got 15 points from Calvin Thompson, while Rodney Butts scored 20 for the Jaguars (3-3).
Memphis State 80, Texas Tech 55--Andre Turner scored 18 points and Baskerville Holmes added 15 points and 13 rebounds as the 12th-ranked Tigers turned back the Red Raiders at Lubbock, Tex.
Mike Nelson had 17 points for Tech (3-3), which lost for the third straight time.
Western Kentucky 86, Middle Tennessee 74--Sophomore guard James McNary had 24 points and 12 assists at Bowling Green, Ky., as the Hilltoppers won their sixth game without a defeat.
Kim Cooksey had 25 points for Middle Tennessee (4-4).
Notre Dame 72, Oregon 63--Joseph Price came off the bench to score a career-high 20 points and lead the Irish past the Ducks at South Bend, Ind.
The Ducks (2-3) stayed close in the first half, but the Irish (4-1) scored eight straight points for a 53-41 lead with 9:25 left and never lost control.
Missouri 91, Western Illinois 64--Dan Bingenheimer scored 23 points and Derrick Chievous added 18 as the Tigers rolled to past the Leathernecks at Columbia, Mo.
Gary Leonard, a 7-foot freshman center, added 15 for the Tigers (5-2). Daryl Reed scored 12 for Western Illinois (3-3).
Alabama 99, Murray State 65--Buck Johnson scored 24 points at Tuscaloosa, Ala., and the Crimson Tide trounced the Thoroughbreds for their fourth win without a defeat.
Oklahoma State 95, Texas Arlington 68--Muhammad Akbar scored 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Cowboys toppled the Mavericks at Stillwater, Okla.
Purdue 86, Southern Illinois 67--Troy Lewis scored 31 points and Todd Mitchell added 23 points and 18 rebounds as the Boilermakers overpowered the Salukis at Carbondale, Ill.
