An unemployed man was held without bail Monday in the shooting death of his estranged wife at their home in Garden Grove, police said.
The body of Mildred H. Walker, 34, was found in the home in the 12700 block of Palm Street shortly after the 9 p.m. shooting Sunday, Police Sgt. Bruce Beauchamp said Monday.
Michael A. Walker, 38, was arrested at the house and a handgun was taken as evidence, Beauchamp said. Walker was held at the Orange County Jail.
Beauchamp said the couple had been separated about a week when Mrs. Walker returned Sunday to retrieve some belongings. She was shot with a .38-caliber gun, Beauchamp said.
A couple staying in the Walker home heard the shots from another room and called police.
