AirCal said Monday it will inaugurate service between Seattle and Anchorage beginning in March because of its successful bid to acquire some of the assets of New Wien Airlines Inc., a Seattle-based carrier that went bankrupt in October. Assets acquired by Newport Beach-based AirCal include facilities at Anchorage International Airport. Company officials declined to disclose how much AirCal paid for the assets, obtained through federal bankruptcy proceedings. Aircal also said it plans to lease several Boeing 737-200 aircraft from Wien Air Alaska, the owner of the aircraft used by the bankrupt airline.
