G. D. Searle said it will keep its Equal sweetener.

The Skokie, Ill.-based subsidiary of Monsanto Corp. had announced earlier that it was selling the table-top, low-calorie sweetener along with its over-the-counter drug business. Now, however, it has decided to continue to sell the product through its Nutrasweet subsidiary. Spokesman William I. Greener Jr. said Searle decided to keep Equal after “a review of the economic alternatives.”
