Pepsico will buy Mei Corp.’s soft-drink business.

The company reported that it has agreed to pay $590 million in cash for the soft-drink business. Minneapolis-based MEI is Pepsico’s third-largest independent bottler and operates in 33 Pepsi-Cola franchise territories from the Midwest to the Pacific Coast. The agreement is subject to various conditions.
