Anaheim : Man Held After Wife’s Stepfather Is Slain
A 20-year-old Anaheim man was being held on suspicion of beating his wife’s stepfather to death after he allegedly found the stepfather sexually molesting the couple’s baby daughter.
Lt. Stan Kantor said Salvadore Jesus Flores told investigators that he had attacked Thomas Michael Hobeck, 45, with his hands and feet after he saw Hobeck assaulting the 18-month-old girl.
Flores was off from his job as a shipping clerk at a Los Angeles County warehouse, Kantor said, and was caring for his daughter and the couple’s 3-month-old twin girls while the mother was at work.
The two men had spent Wednesday drinking in Flores’ apartment at 1800 W. Glencrest Ave.; about 8:30 p.m., Flores went to a store to get some more beer, according to Kantor.
“He (Flores) told us that when he came back and saw Hobeck sexually attacking his daughter, he just lost it from there†and began punching and kicking the man, Kantor said.
Neighbors who heard the fight called police and paramedics.
Hobeck was treated at the scene and then taken to UCI Medical Center, where he died a short time later. Flores is being held in Anaheim City Jail without bail, Kantor said.
