COLLEGE FOOTBALL : Timko and West Virginia Beat Syracuse in Final Minute, 13-10

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — West Virginia quarterback Mike Timko drove his team 75 yards in less than a minute Saturday, throwing a five-yard touchdown pass to Grantis Bell with 36 seconds to play as the Mountaineers beat Syracuse, 13-10.
The Mountaineers, overlooked by bowls this season for the first time in five years, won their third straight to finish at 7-3-1.
Syracuse, which will meet Maryland in the Cherry Bowl on Dec. 21, is 7-4. The Orangemen had their five-game winning streak snapped.
Until Timko found wide receiver Harvey Smith on passes of 44, 30 and 14 yards during the last-ditch drive, Syracuse appeared to have sewed up the victory behind Scott Schwedes.
Schwedes, a junior wide receiver, returned a punt 38 yards to set up a 41-yard Don McAulay field goal and hauled in a 20-yard touchdown pass--both in the third quarter.
The Orangemen fumbled nine times in the first half and lost three.
