The Diablo Canyon nuclear power plant’s Unit 2 reactor, which shut down last week, is nearly ready to be restarted for testing, a power company spokesman said. The reactor shut down automatically when sensitive monitoring instruments noted a brief increase in steam flow as the reactor was operating at less than 1% of capacity, Pacific Gas & Electric spokesman Ron Weinberg said. Unit 2 at the plant near San Luis Obispo had been undergoing tests at up to 75% of capacity, Weinberg said.
