Fire officials are investigating a blaze that destroyed a single-family home early Saturday morning while the residents were out of town.
The fire, at 1712 W. Wilshire Ave., was reported by a neighbor shortly after 4 a.m., and by the time firefighters arrived, the flames had broken through the roof, which collapsed minutes later, said Battalion Chief Gale Waites.
It took about 20 minutes for 15 firefighters to extinguish the blaze, he said. No one was injured, Waites said, and damage was estimated at $110,000.
