On Coverage of Cal State Center
We have already scrapped truth in advertising. Must we add accuracy in reporting to the heap?
Coverage of the Cal State Fullerton Gerontology Center (Nov. 21) omitted totally the key role of Continuing Learning Experiences--a senior educational program on campus. It was CLE--not the university--that spearheaded the project, providing both the people power and a substantial portion of the funds to get the project off the ground. Credit where credit is due!
May we also point out to Supervisor Bruce Nestande that this facility is not located in Orange County as a stroke of luck but by design. Since Continued Learning Experiences is based at Cal State Fullerton, it was implicit in the planning that the center be built on this campus.
The academic function of the Gerontology Center has always been two-pronged: to serve the traditional student as well as the senior student who is a member of CLE.
