Equipment Stolen: A community-based law center in Santa Ana that offers low-cost services to the poor had most of its office equipment stolen earlier this week, according to Santa Ana police. Sister Annette Debs, one of two lawyers at the center, said three IBM typewriters, a calculator and a clock radio were taken from her law office sometime late Monday night or early Tuesday morning. The three typewriters were valued at about $1,800, she said. Debs said the center has purchased a used typewriter as a replacement, “but we had to use the money we were saving for our insurance.” The law center at 317 E. Santa Ana Blvd. has been barely able to stay afloat financially in the past because of large bills, court costs and the occasional inability of clients to pay their fees.
