Quarterback Josh Davis passed for 231 yards in the first half, including a pair of short touchdown passes in the second quarter, to lead Pierce College to a 17-14 victory Saturday over West L.A.

The Brahmas (7-2 overall, 4-0 in conference), who will face Valley College in next week’s Southern California Conference championship game, overcame numerous turnovers and penalties.

“We got lucky today, but I’ll take it,†Pierce Coach Jim Fenwick said. “We are not by far a complete team yet. If we don’t play well against Valley next week, we’ll definitely get beat.â€
