South Gate Rotary Club Will Honor Retired Police Chief
SOUTH GATE — The South Gate Rotary Club will honor John Gutting, former chief of police, at a noon luncheon Wednesday at the Civic Auditorium, 4900 Southern Ave. Tickets are $7.
FBI agent Jim Neilson will be the guest speaker in recognition of the years Gutting worked with that department in his role as president of the Los Angeles County Peace Officers Assn.
Gutting, 82, began his career in law enforcement as a patrolman in 1932. He became police chief in 1941 and served in that position for 27 years until his retirement. Gutting still lives in South Gate.
Reservations for the luncheon may be made by calling Homer Cotton at (213) 567-3743.
