Two Southern California motorcycle racers won the 18th annual SCORE Baja 1,000 off-road vehicle race.
Larry Roeseler, 29, of El Cajon, and co-driver Kurt Pfeiffer, 21, of Costa Mesa, finished first at Ensenada with a time of 17 hours 18 minutes 18 seconds. Their average speed was 47.5 m.p.h. for the race that began Friday morning.
The first four-wheel car to finish was driven by Steve Sourapas, 27, of La Jolla, and co-driver Dave Richardson, 34, of La Mesa. Their time was 17:54:55.
The race covered 822 miles through the Baja Peninsula countryside.
Meanwhile, another 41 vehicles started the 300-mile Baja Endurance Safari, which is being run for the first time. Among the entries is a Rolls Royce driven by Charles Martin of Palm Desert.
