Transient Killed After Straying Into Traffic

A 55-year-old transient was killed Thursday evening when he apparently strayed into traffic on a busy street in Mission Hills and was hit by a car, Los Angeles police said.
The man, whose name was not released, was pronounced dead at the scene in the 14700 block of Devonshire Street about 6:35 p.m. after he was hit by a westbound car and knocked about 80 feet, Sgt. Dennis Zine said.
The driver was not cited, Zine said.
