Slightly Cooler, Sunny Weekend

Temperatures will drop slightly today when ocean breezes push fog and familiar night and morning low clouds inland, but sunny, seasonal days will prevail through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Eastern breezes that blew clouds out to sea Wednesday and Thursday, promoting clear, cool nights and slightly warmer daytime highs, are expected to shift to an onshore flow of sea air by today, forecaster Dan Atkin said Thursday.

A weak low-pressure system will replace a high-pressure pattern here, bringing slightly cooler temperatures through Sunday, Atkin said.

Night and morning clouds may extend inland through Sunday but sunny days should follow mid-morning clearing.

At the beach, daytime highs are expected to reach 73, with lows in the 50s. South to southwest sea breezes should average 8 to 16 m.p.h., and the ocean water temperature is hovering at 66 degrees.

Coastal strip highs of 75 are expected to drop to around 50 at night. Inland valley temperatures in the mid-70s to the mid-80s are expected to cool to the 40s at night.
