A plane carrying musician Ray Charles, 55, and 27 other people skidded off the rain-slick runway when landing at Bloomington, Ind. Charles was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries, then released, but he canceled a concert appearance at Indiana University--partly because band instruments were trapped in the wreckage of the four-engine Vickers Viscount turboprop owned by Ray Charles Enterprises. No one else aboard was hurt seriously.
