SATURDAY’S HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL RESULTS : Notre Dame 21, Bell-Jefferson 13 : KEY PLAYS
A 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown by J. J. Celestine gave the Titans a 6-3 lead in the first quarter. . . . Celestine caught a 56-yard touchdown pass from Tony Nordbeck and followed that up with a two point conversion catch to make the score Notre Dame 15-3. . . . Bell-Jeff running back Pete Vucurevic scored on an 11-yard run with 1:12 left in the first half to narrow Notre Dame’s lead to 15-10. . . . Celestine, who doubles as defensive back, ran 36 yards with an intercepted a pass to give the Titans a 21-10 lead with 6:22 left in the third quarter.
KEY PLAYERS
J. J. Celestine (ND) scored all three touchdowns. He also intercepted two passes, the second with 1:32 left in the game to stop Bell-Jeff’s last scoring opportunity. Quarterback Keith Fitzgerald (BJ) completed 18 of 42 passes for 288 yards but had four passes intercepted. Tight end Jeff Miljanich (BJ) caught 11 passes for 159 yards, and Fernando Gauna (BJ) caught five for 108 yards. Running back Pete Vucurevic (BJ) ran 20 times for 75 yards and one touchdown.
