Wesley Athletes Still at Junior College Level

DOVER, Del. — Wesley College has a four-year academic program, but its athletics remain at the junior college level, a situation the college president hopes will change by the start of the 1986-87 school year.
Wesley President Reed M. Stewart said he hopes a committee formed to study the change will have a recommendation prepared for the Wesley Board of Trustess to vote on at its meeting set for Oct. 22.
“I can no longer run up and down the peninsula and talk about Wesley being a four-year comprehensive institution of higher learning and see us continue to play sports on a two-year junior college basis,” Stewart said.
Wesley offers football, men’s and women’s basketball, field hockey, baseball, softball, men’s and women’s tennis and golf on the junior college level.
