Riverside-based Fleetwood Enterprises has started construction on a $1.9-million, manufactured housing facility on a 22-acre site in Roxboro, N.C.
When completed in early 1986, the plant will be the third one established by the California firm in North Carolina within the past three years. The plant will “reflect the continued demand for affordable housing and Fleetwood’s commitment to meet that need with quality housing specifically suited to regional requirements,” Jon Nord, vice president of Fleetwood Enterprises’ Housing Group, said. The firm also has a recreational vehicle division.
Initially, the plant is expected to employ up to 100 people. The facility will have about 75,000 square feet of manufacturing, storage and office space.
