SAN DIEGO COUNTY DIGEST : Countywide
Under a proposal filed with the Public Utilities Commission Friday, a typical residential bill from San Diego Gas & Electric would drop about $1.67, a spokesman for the utility said.
In filing for the fall Energy Cost Adjustment Clause, the company took into account that prices paid for natural gas and fuel oil used to generate electricity continue to decline.
The saving should be passed on to customers, the company said.
The drop in power plant fuel prices is due to federal deregulation of natural gas as well as to customer conservation, said David Dohren, SDG&E;’s director of rates.
If the request is granted following hearings later this year, the typical residential bill would drop from the current $66.19 for 400 kilowatt hours and 40 therms, to $64.52.
