Rockwell International Corp.’s semiconductor division in Newport Beach plans to layoff 67 workers in the next two months. A Rockwell spokesman declined to say how many workers the division employs, but said the reduction represents less than 4% of the workforce. Many of the workers are temporary assembly line workers.
He described the layoffs as “fine tuning in the factory.â€
The spokesman said Rockwell has not been affected by an industrywide slump in semiconductor sales until recently because its communications business has been so strong.
