A 42-year-old roomer shot his landlord and her three children to death in Alameda before turning the gun on himself and committing suicide, according to police. Investigators said they did not know why Nga Van Huyna, 43, pulled out the .38-caliber revolver and opened fire. The body of Mai Tran, 38, was found outside her children’s bedroom. Her two daughters, Lien, 14, and Lan, 12, and her son, Quoc, 9, were found in the room. Hoang Binh, 16, a relative who had been visiting the family, escaped through a second-floor window. Mai Tran’s husband, Giang, was at work when the shootings occurred.
