A Riverside County man was arrested at his home early Tuesday in connection with a violent assault on two men outside an Anaheim bar, police said.
James Thomas Duffy, 24, was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and was being held in lieu of $250,000 bail in the Anaheim City Jail, Anaheim Police Lt. Robert Puckett said.
One victim, Michael Rushing, 28, of Placentia, was in serious condition at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was being treated for massive head injuries, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Rushing was airlifted to the hospital after he was hit on the head with a baseball bat about 7:30 p.m. Monday outside Harvey’s Bar and Grill in the 3000 block of East Coronado Street, police said.
The second victim, Fred Torres, 24, of Fullerton, was treated at Anaheim Memorial Hospital for a broken arm, police said.
Investigators said the altercation apparently stemmed from an argument inside the bar. A baseball bat was seized as evidence, police said.
Information from witnesses led detectives to Duffy’s home in the unincorporated community of Romoland, about 12 miles west of Hemet, where he was arrested at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday.
