LIME ROCK, Conn. — Actor Paul Newman’s race car developed a leak, and he was forced to drop out of the $55,000 Nissan Trans-Am 100-mile race Saturday after leading for 43 of the 66 laps.
Newman, 60, driving a Nissan 300ZX turbo, had earned the pole position Friday with a record qualifying time at Lime Rock Park. But a radiator hose burst, and he was sidelined for the second time in a week.
“We just can’t get any luck,†said Newman, a Westport resident who drives for Bob Sharp Racing of Danbury.
