Kellogg first aired its All-Bran anti-cancer TV commercials last fall: A yuppie woman asserts in hard, grim terms that a high-fiber cereal is an aid in cancer prevention. The Cancer Advisory Council called the ads “misleading and objectionable.” The campaign not only continued but just added three spots stressing the importance of high-fiber diets in cancer prevention.
According to Kellogg publicity director Celeste Clark, the latest pitches weren’t influenced by the President’s brush with cancer: “We’ve refreshed our campaign with some new executions, but we have not changed our advertising and marketing plans in light of Ronald Reagan’s condition.”
