The Region : L.A. Council OKs Curbs on Teen Clubs
A proposed Los Angeles ordinance requiring teen dance clubs to close by 10 p.m. on school nights and by 1 a.m. on weekends and on holidays was given final approval by the City Council. The measure, which must be approved by Mayor Tom Bradley before it can become law, also would prohibit 13- and 14-year-olds from entering a club without a parental consent form signed in the presence of club management. Councilwoman Joy Picus sponsored the measure in response to what she claimed were drug use, vandalism and sexual activity at the Phases teen disco in her West San Fernando Valley district.
