President Reagan, as expected, announced that he will nominate William Seidman, dean of the College of Business at Arizona State University, to be a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp.

Seidman, 64, would succeed William Isaac, who had asked to remain on the job to complete several pending projects when his six-year term expired 16 months ago.

Isaac, a Republican, was named to the agency during the Carter Administration. He has been serving as chairman of the FDIC, which insures deposits at most of the nation’s banks.

Seidman served as an economic adviser to former President Gerald R. Ford and as co-chairman of the White House Conference on Productivity in 1983-84. He previously served as vice chairman of Phelps Dodge Corp.

Carter Hawley Hales Stores Inc. named Rick Sones a vice president in its New York-based market services division. The division provides centralized buying services for the Los Angeles-based retailer.
