Rapid Convalescence Surprises President

WASHINGTON — President Reagan is “surprised and pleased” by the progress he has made in recovering from cancer surgery, a spokesman said Friday.
Reagan departed by helicopter with his wife, Nancy, to spend the weekend at Camp David, Md.
“The President is feeling well today,” White House spokesman Larry Speakes said. “He is surprised and pleased at the amount of progress that he has made” in his convalescence.
