The Soviet Union praised a U.S. court decision against what it called “the scandalous tyranny and lawlessness†of U.S. immigration officials who blocked a Soviet couple from taking their teen-age son back to the Ukraine. The Communist Party newspaper Pravda said the officials “blatantly trampled upon the rights†of the parents in a plot with Soviet emigre “bandits in Chicago who were trying to keep Walter Polovchak in the United States. Thursday’s decision, in Chicago, which is being appealed, said parents Mikhail and Anna Polovchak had been denied due process of law.
