Rep. Kemp’s Office Begins to Take On the Kennedy Look
WASHINGTON — Rep. Jack Kemp, a presidential aspirant whose looks have been compared to John F. Kennedy’s, has a new secretary who looks like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.
She is Barbara Reynolds, who portrayed the former First Lady in advertisements.
“She has a terrific reputation as a secretary and is very, very good,†John Buckley, the New York Republican’s press secretary, said today. He said Reynolds, former appointments secretary to Rep. Carlos J. Moorhead (R-Glendale), came highly recommended for the job.
Onassis filed a violation of privacy suit after Reynolds portrayed her in a Christian Dior ad, and in 1984 a New York court issued a temporary injunction ordering Reynolds not to portray Onassis in any ads.
Reynolds told the Washington Post it was just “an enjoyable coincidence†that she was hired to work for Kemp, a former pro football player. Cartoonists have often likened Kemp to Kennedy.
