Fires Damage 2 Businesses: Firefighters Sunday were investigating the cause of a two-alarm blaze that caused an estimated $400,000 damage to two Placentia businesses. The blaze, which erupted about 10:30 p.m. Saturday, engulfed a woodworking firm and a painting and sandblasting business at 1049 S. Melrose St. About 55 firefighters worked about 90 minutes to extinguish the blaze, said the dispatcher for the Orange County Fire Department, which was assisted by units from Fullerton and Anaheim. There were no reports of injuries.
