Greg Lee Is Named Clairemont Coach
SAN DIEGO — Greg Lee, who played alongside Bill Walton on two national championship teams at UCLA, has been named varsity boys’ basketball coach at Clairemont High School.
Lee, who will also teach algebra at Clairemont, takes over a team that last year won two games.
“Obviously, we’ll just have to start over with the fundamentals,†Lee said.
After graduating from UCLA in 1974, Lee played one year with the San Diego Conquistadors of the old American Basketball Assn. and a year with the NBA Portland Trail Blazers. He spent four winters playing and coaching in Germany before settling with his family in San Diego.
For the past four years, Lee taught at Morse. He coached the girls’ junior varsity basketball team for two years, including one in which his team went undefeated, and also served as an assistant to Tiger boys’ varsity Coach Ron Davis.
