Pilot of Jet Ejects at Sea, Is Rescued
A Marine Corps pilot on a routine training mission Tuesday ejected from his A-4 Skyhawk into the ocean about 35 miles south of San Clemente Island, Marine Corps officials said.
Capt. Michael Graves, 30, was flown by a rescue helicopter to the Navy hospital in Balboa Park after the 2:15 p.m. crash, said Sgt. Vicky Conkal. Graves’ condition was unknown.
Graves, a Corona resident who is stationed at El Toro Marine Corps Air Station, is a member of Marine Attack Squadron 211. The incident is under investigation, Conkal said.
