UTC halted construction on a $26-million facility.
East Hartford, Conn.-based United Technologies said it suspended construction of a microelectronics research facility while it reassesses its investment in the semiconductor business and the need for the laboratory and office complex. Mostek Corp., a unit of UTC that manufactures semiconductors, has slumped along with the rest of the semiconductor industry. Construction of the 90,000-square-foot facility began in March at UTC’s research center in East Hartford and was to be completed in August, 1986.
