Fire Breaks Out on Disney World Train; 6 Taken to Hospital
LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. — Two-hundred passengers aboard an elevated Disney World monorail train were evacuated after fire broke out in a rear car, a spokesman for the tourist attraction said Thursday. Six persons were treated at a hospital and released.
The six-car train, traveling on an electronically charged beam 30 to 40 feet above ground, was en route from Epcot Center to the Magic Kingdom’s ticket and transportation center Wednesday night when the fire was spotted.
The incident shut down the monorail system for about 45 minutes, temporarily stranding visitors in other sections. The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
