Garden Grove

City Employees Increased: Seven police officers and six other full-time city employees will be added to the city’s staff in 1985-86, and street-sweeping will be increased to twice a month on residential streets after the city approved a new $50.3-million budget. The budget is a 6% increase from 1984-85. Controller Anthony Andrade said revenues are expected to rise by about 22% due to an increase in sales tax and state and federal grant programs. He said the projected $10 million in sales tax could go higher next year with the opening of Garden Grove’s first major hotel, the Plaza Alicante, under construction at Chapman Avenue and Harbor Boulevard.
