ARTS CENTER GETS GIFTS OF $425,000

Four gifts totaling $425,000 for the construction of the Orange County Performing Arts Center have been announced by Center officials..
Mr. and Mrs. Jerrold Glass of Palos Verdes Estates have given $125,000. Glass is president of Western National Properties Co. in Orange.
Donations of $100,000 have been received from SmithKline Beckman Corp., which has its western headquarters in Newport Beach; Clifford Heinz, a Newport Beach-based private investor, and Mervyn Phelan, a Capistrano Beach resident and president of PHI Enterprises Inc.
The overall Center campaign has topped the $63-million mark toward a target of $85.5 million to construct and endow the multifacility complex.
The 3,000-seat multipurpose theater and 300-seat studio-type theater, now under construction in Costa Mesa, are set to open in October, 1986.
A 1,000-seat theater is to be built after 1986.
