Drug Sleuths Urged to Use Sniffing Pigs

HANOVER, West Germany — A member of the West German radical Greens party urged police Monday to replace their drug-sniffing Alsatian dogs with pigs.
The Greens member of Lower Saxony’s state Parliament, Juergen Trittin, made the call after the Hanover drug squad decided that its effective drug-detecting pig, Louise, would nevertheless have to be retired because she was bad for the force’s image.
“Instead of using hyper-aggressive and dumb German shepherds, the police force should consider keeping the drug-sniffing pig in its service. Pigs would never attack demonstrators like those vicious Alsatians,” he said.
