A 0.8% rise in San Diego prices between March and May was generated mainly by higher prices for natural gas and motor fuels, the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics reported this week.
A 7.9% rise in motor fuels led the bureau’s transportation index increase. The bureau said rising costs of rental units and housekeeping supplies were partly countered by lower homeowner and home furnishing costs. Food and beverage prices were unchanged over the two-month period.
The overall price index increase means that San Diego consumers are paying $37.21 for a market basket of goods and services that cost $10 in 1967, the bureau reported.
