Bomb Scare Closes Border

SAN YSIDRO, Calif. — The U.S. Customs Service closed the San Ysidro Port of Entry for more than an hour today after a telephoned bomb scare.
A Customs official said the checkpoint--the busiest in amount of traffic in the United States--was reopened about 12:15 p.m. The San Diego County sheriff’s bomb squad found a device at the scene but it was not immediately known what the device was.
