Attorneys for accused war criminal Andrija Artukovic filed an appeal in Los Angeles federal court seeking to overturn an extradition order that would return the 85-year-old Seal Beach resident to Yugoslavia to stand trial for mass murder. A petition asking for Artukovic’s release cites 27 reasons for rescinding U.S. Magistrate Volney V. Brown Jr.’s May 1 extradition order. Artukovic’s attorney, Gary Fleischman, argued that the proceedings conducted by Brown were riddled with legal errors.
