SIX VAN CLIBURN FINALISTS NAMED
FORT WORTH — Judges have culled six pianists from six nations among the dozen competitors remaining in the seventh Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
They are Philippe Bianconi, 25, of France; Barry Douglas, 25, of Britain; Karoly Mocsari, 22, of Hungary; Emma Takhmizian, 27, of Bulgaria; Hans-Christian Wille, 27, of West Germany; and Jose Feghali, 24, of Brazil.
The six will continue to compete at the Tarrant County Convention Center, and the winner will be announced Sunday, a contest spokesman said.
Competition began May 18 with 36 pianists from 17 countries.
