LOUISVILLE, Ky. — William J. Schroeder’s condition was upgraded from critical to satisfactory today, allowing the longest living artificial heart patient to move to a private room two weeks after suffering a second stroke.
Schroeder, 53, suffered a brain hemorrhage from the stroke. He remains unable to speak and is confined to bed due to severely restricted movement on the right half of his body.
