Valley Power Outage Affects 70,000 Users
About 70,000 homes and businesses lost electrical power Friday night in the northeastern San Fernando Valley, the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power said.
A DWP spokesman said the power went out about 8:45 p.m. because of a problem at a receiving station that feeds seven other distributing centers in the Valley.
Affected areas included Sunland, Tujunga, Sun Valley, Pacoima, Arleta and North Hollywood.
Officials were still attempting to find the cause of the outage, but by late Friday service had been restored to about 70% of the customers, the DWP said.
