Fire Destroys 4 Apartments in Oceanside
OCEANSIDE — Fire destroyed several units at an apartment complex on Los Arbelitos Drive on Tuesday evening, causing $550,000 in damage, the Oceanside Fire Department reported.
No one was hurt in the fire, which took more than three hours to extinguish and required five engine companies from Oceanside as well as a special five-engine detachment composed of firefighters from Camp Pendleton, Fallbrook, San Marcos, Carlsbad and Rancho Santa Fe.
The fire destroyed four apartments, heavily damaged four more, caused minor damage to two, and destroyed a four-vehicle carport, a spokesman said.
The spokesman said that preliminary damage estimates totaled $550,000, including $375,000 to the building and $125,000 to its contents. The cause of the blaze was not known late Tuesday.
